Surgical Tech - First Assist

Essential Duties:

• Assist the surgical team by directly supporting surgeons during procedures, including suturing and tissue manipulation.

• Provide hands-on assistance with positioning and draping patients for surgery.

• Ensure surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are prepared and functional.

• Monitor and maintain the sterile field while adhering to strict aseptic techniques.

• Collaborate with the surgical team during intraoperative and post-operative phases.

• Document surgical procedures accurately and help manage inventory.

Responsibilities:

• Provide critical first-assist functions, such as retracting tissues, closing incisions, and controlling bleeding.

• Anticipate the surgeon s needs to ensure smooth procedural flow.

• Position and stabilize surgical devices when needed.

• Participate in pre- and post-operative briefings to optimize care delivery.

• Stay up-to-date on the latest surgical techniques and technologies.

Requirements:

• Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist - First Assist (CST-FA) preferred or completion of an accredited first-assist program.

• Licensure: Active certification and licensure as required by Texas state regulations.

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years assisting in surgical settings preferred.

• Skills: Advanced knowledge of surgical instruments, techniques, and operating room protocols.
