Assistant Professor/Instructor of Cybersecurity
Posted 2025-06-05The School of Business and Technology at Seton Hill University invites qualified candidates to apply for an Instructor/Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity faculty position to begin as early as January 2025 or Fall 2025 per the candidate's availability. The applicant must hold a graduate degree in Cybersecurity. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in new and emerging technologies. A doctorate in Cybersecurity is preferred.
We are seeking a candidate passionate about teaching that prepares students for future careers in Cybersecurity. Teaching assignments include in-class and online courses in Cybersecurity and Computer Science at the graduate (MBA - Cybersecurity specialization) and undergraduate Cybersecurity levels. The candidate will be expected to participate in professional and program development, advising, outcomes assessment, scholarship, and service activities.
Duties & Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in cybersecurity, information security, network security, and related fields. Develop curriculum aligned with current industry standards, focusing on hands-on labs, threat modeling, and secure software development. Engage in active research within cybersecurity and/or information assurance, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and conferences. Advise students, including supervising capstone projects and guiding students through internships and research opportunities. Participate in department and university service, as well as community outreach activities relevant to cybersecurity. Qualifications:
Minimum:
Education: Masters degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science with a focus on cybersecurity, Information Security, or a closely related field by the start date.
Certifications: Professional certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or Certified Ethical Hacker are strongly preferred.
Experience: Previous college-level teaching experience is preferred. Relevant industry experience in cybersecurity, especially in penetration testing, network security, or secure software engineering, is highly desirable.
Skills: Demonstrated ability to teach a range of cybersecurity topics, strong knowledge of security protocols, and the ability to keep pace with the evolving field of cybersecurity.
A demonstrated ability to disseminate information to an expansive group of students in an engaging, experiential manner.
A record of success in a team environment.
Preferred:
Preference will be given to candidates with:
PhD in a related field.
Post-secondary teaching experience, including the use of computer applications for classroom instruction.
