Commissioning Superintendent
Posted 2025-05-30The Commissioning General Foreman oversees all field commissioning activities for a specific area or project. This role involves planning, coordinating, executing, tracking, and reporting on commissioning tasks, ensuring they meet project requirements, codes, and specifications. The General Foreman is also responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring the commissioning team follows proper procedures for equipment energization.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team, ensuring clear understanding of tasks and responsibilities. Address any issues on-site-technical, personnel, or logistical-and maintain open communication with team members, superintendents, and stakeholders
Ensure all workers follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety meetings, report accidents or near-misses promptly, and take corrective actions when necessary
Assign tasks based on worker skills, availability, and project needs. Track project progress to ensure deadlines are met, notify supervisors of delays, and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes
Ensure materials and tools are available and used efficiently. Monitor manhours to minimize waste and unnecessary hours, and oversee the proper maintenance and use of equipment
Maintain detailed daily logs of work performed, workers on-site, and any issues encountered. Provide regular project updates to the superintendent or project manager, and ensure all permits, inspections, and safety documentation are current
Maintain a professional demeanor when working with clients, inspectors, and stakeholders. Ensure project expectations are met and communicated clearly throughout the process
Requirements
5-12 years of commissioning field experience in the discipline
Strong knowledge of construction quality checks, drawings, specifications, and codes
Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations, with the ability to manage multiple crews and apply strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Proficiency in computer and software applications
