Job Overview
As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting and guiding young individuals in their personal and social development. Your primary focus will be to create a safe and nurturing environment where youth can thrive. This position requires a compassionate and dedicated individual who is skilled in conflict management and has experience working with diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities.

MUST be 21 years old and pass a background check and drug screen.

    Payrate dependent on number of years' experience working with children in a residential setting. $15.00-$18.50 (DOE).Shift Availability: The potential to pick up extra shifts is available.
  • Saturday & Sunday 7 am- 7 pm (PT 24 hrs)
  • Wednesday, Thrusday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 2 pm-10:30 pm (FT)
  • Start date and in person training is during business hours Monday-Friday, 3-4 day commitment. Online training at home must be completed within 30 days of start date.
    Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to youth in various settings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each youth's needs.
  • Facilitate group activities that promote social skills, teamwork, and personal growth.
  • Monitor and document the progress of youth, maintaining accurate records of their development.
  • Assist in conflict resolution by employing effective conflict management strategies.
  • Engage with families to provide updates on youth progress and collaborate on care plans.
  • Lift and assist youth as necessary, ensuring physical support is provided safely.
  • Stay informed about medical terminology relevant to the care of youth with special needs.
    Experience
  • Previous experience in childcare, home care, or senior care is preferred.
  • Familiarity with systems related to working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when required for the support of youth.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on communication and empathy.
  • Knowledge of conflict management techniques to effectively handle challenging situations.

Work Environment

    Treatment milieu environment. A youth care specialist spends their time working with youth, helping with daily tasks. Shifts vary, depending on the needs of the agency –The job of a Youth Care Specialist can be physically and emotionally challenging.
  • Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The Youth Care Specialist must be able to pass EBI (Emergency Behavior Intervention) training and use techniques as taught.

Must be able to sit or stand at a personal computer for a reasonable length of time typing and reading.

Must be able to see, hear, speak, walk, and sit. Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to focus.
  • Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
    Youth Care Specialists must support flexible work hours to maintain the required ratio, including weekends, holidays, evening hours and the over-night shift.
  • Travel
    Occasional travel may be required to transport youth in care. Agency vehicle will be provided.
  • Required Education, Experience, and other Job Requirements

HS diploma or GED (General Educational Development).

Must be at least 21 years of age per licensing standards.

Valid Texas driver license required to start job. If you have an out of state driver license per licensing standards you much obtain a Texas driver license within 90 days.

Clean driving record, must have the ability to meet TruLight127 Youth Village requirements for coverage under TruLight127 auto insurance policy

Proof of valid/current personal auto liability insurance.

Must clear Department of Children Family Services background check.

Cleared TB results.

Cleared Drug Screen

Preferred-A minimum of one (1) year of prior experience in the direct care field in a residential setting serving children ages 0-18 years.
