GENERAL PURPOSE:
AMCP is seeking a motivated and curious individual to join our practice strategy and innovation team as a summer intern. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to the evolving field of managed care pharmacy and actively contribute to projects that influence health policy, innovation, and the future of pharmacy practice.
The intern will support key initiatives aligned with AMCP’s mission to improve patient health by ensuring access to high-quality, cost-effective medications and therapies. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, comfortable working in a professional environment, and excited to make meaningful contributions to impactful projects. Interns may be remote or work onsite at the AMCP HQ in Alexandria, VA. A minimum of 10 hours a week is requested.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gain exposure to managed care pharmacy
- Participate in introductory training sessions to understand the role of managed care pharmacy in the US health care system.
- Attend virtual meetings and briefings with professionals across pharmacy, health policy, and innovation spaces.
- Assistant documenting and synthesizing learnings from expert discussions, webinars, or forums hosted by AMCP.
- Project-based work
- Support the development of one or more defined summer projects, which may include research summaries, communication tools, data collection, or preparation of deliverables for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct background research and contribute to the development of tool kits, presentations, works strategic briefings focused on innovation topics.
- Create content summaries or visual assets for team deliverables, depending on interest and skill set.
- Team support and administrative tasks
- Help with organizing materials for team initiatives or special interest groups.
- Try key milestones and support the coordination of project timelines.
- Participate in regular team check-ins and share weekly reflections on learning outcomes.
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Demonstrated interest in healthcare, science, technology, public policy, or innovation.
- Strong written in verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Organized, dependable, and open the feedback and learning.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Recent high school graduate with strong academic standing.
