A top-tier multidisciplinary design firm is seeking an experienced Mission Critical Technology Designer to join their growing team. This role is focused on the design and coordination of advanced IT, security, and AV systems for complex, high-reliability environments such as data centers, command centers, and secure facilities.

You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, and clients to deliver smart, scalable, and secure technology infrastructure. Ideal candidates will have deep experience with structured cabling, access control, video surveillance, and related systems — and understand the mission critical mindset.

Responsibilities

Design and support systems including structured cabling, access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, AV, intercom, and more

Lead client meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to align scope, schedule, and system requirements

Apply BICSI, AVIXA, and ASIS standards and best practices throughout the design process

Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams and vendors to ensure fully integrated solutions

Create Revit-based drawings, cabinet layouts, rack elevations, and jack-field layouts

Provide ongoing engineering support from kickoff through closeout

Evaluate technical requirements, estimate budgets, and offer creative problem-solving

Stay current on emerging technologies and vendor offerings to support design excellence

Qualifications

✔ RCDD certification required

✔ Bachelor’s degree preferred

✔ 5+ years of experience in IT systems or low-voltage design (data center/mission critical preferred)

✔ Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and Excel

✔ Familiarity with CSI format specifications and U.S. codes/standards (NFPA, BICSI, TIA, IEEE, AVIXA)

✔ Strong Communication Skills And Experience Leading Client-facing Meetings

✔ Ability to work independently and remotely with geographically dispersed teams

✔ Knowledge of building automation and power management systems is a plus

Day-to-day

Develop fully coordinated Revit models and detailed system drawings

Engage directly with clients and internal teams to guide designs from concept to reality

Troubleshoot technical challenges and propose creative, cost-effective solutions

Stay hands-on and proactive throughout the entire project lifecycle
