Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and patient tutor to support a college student enrolled in Electric Circuits (ELEN 50L) at Santa Clara University during an accelerated summer session. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrical Engineering and/or Physics and experience teaching or tutoring at the college level. The student will be covering a full 10-week course in just 5 weeks, so the pace will be fast and the support needs significant.
The course is asynchronous with recorded lectures, and the student would benefit from a tutor who can watch these lectures with him, pausing to explain concepts and help with problem sets. One in-person lab session per week will accompany the course, and support with lab content and write-ups is a plus.

- Circuit theorems and methods of analysis applied to DC and AC circuits
- Topics may include: Ohm’s Law, Kirchhoff’s Laws, Thevenin/Norton Equivalents, Mesh and Nodal Analysis, Transient Analysis, Phasors, and Impedance
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience tutoring or teaching college-level electric circuits, electrical engineering, or related physics coursework
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field
- Ability to sit through recorded lectures with the student and provide real-time support and clarification
- Patience and an encouraging teaching style that helps build student confidence and comprehension
- Ability to break down complex circuit theory into manageable, digestible concepts
- Experience supporting students in accelerated or condensed-format courses
- Bonus: Familiarity with lab-based circuit work and lab report support
- Other Requirements:
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Reliable availability throughout the 5-week summer session (June–July)
- Approximately 5 to 12+ hours per week, depending on student need
- Must be available during Pacific Time Zone hours

- Education:
- Master's (Preferred)
- Experience:
- college level teaching/tutoring: 2 years (Required)
