We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsPosition Summary:Performs hematologic, chemical, microscopic, morphologic, immunologic and microbiologic testing in a prompt and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies. Implements new instrumentation. Sets up new methodologies, develops procedural protocols, and trains lab personnel in the use of instrumentation. Participates in QA activities and supports the hospital in meeting JCAHO and CAP accreditation standards. Implements new instrumentation. Assures that CAP guidelines are followed and standards are consistently met.Essential Functions include but are not limited to:Know policies, procedures and practices necessary to carry out the normal functions of laboratory clinical areas.Make decisions and establish priorities on procedure-oriented operations. Work in an independent manner with limited supervision.Demonstrate initial and annual competency in designated lab sections, including phlebotomy as needed.Prioritize work to ensure completion within the assigned shift and within expected intervals, e.g. Stat, Routine, and timed specimens.Maintain constructive, open communication with other supervisors, co-workers and customers, both internal and external. Demonstrate awareness of patient/client expectation and seek to satisfy.Demonstrate proficiency in all laboratory computer related tasks, including: email, corrected reports, correct documentation, faxing, add-on tests and cancellations, creating and receiving site batches and all functions of the LIS (Laboratory Information System).Perform and document instrument maintenance. Perform quality control according to established procedures. Troubleshoot instruments effectively.Possess an understanding of and ability to participate in Laboratory initiatives to include Quality Assurance, Safety Plans/Policies, Billing Compliance, Code of Conduct, and HIPAA requirements as they relate to the position, the laboratory department, and the facility. ASCP eligible certification or equivalent.Located in Derry, NH, is a regional acute-care hospital offering 86 beds and a Level III Trauma Center.
