  • Responds to request for information from employees and/or the general public over the phone, in person, and via e-mail regarding a variety of Human Resources procedures, programs, job opportunities, and/or other related information.
  • Prepares, processes, and maintains a variety of personnel records, documents, files, logs, applications, compensation information, benefits and status changes, and/or other related information. Recommends changes to improve efficiency in processes and systems.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of confidential employee records and data; ensure administrative documents implementing personnel actions are consistent with labor agreements and city policy.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of correspondence. Edits and formats documents for final publication and distribution.
  • Coordinate employee events, training sessions, and/or other similar activities. Helps facilitate employee on-boarding program and coordinates training events for all City staff.
  • Assist Human Resources staff with administrative support and clerical duties. May provide reception duties on behalf of the Human Resources Department.
  • Process a variety of invoices and purchase orders. Track accounts payable payments and balances.
  • Monitors and maintains supplies, materials, and inventory. Procures materials and supplies in support of operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Participates in special projects and programs.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Education and Experience RequirementsQualified candidates will have broad knowledge of human resource principals, practices, theories and methods. A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is to be a high school graduate or possess a certificate of equivalency upon appointment and have three years experience in a human resources environment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.Candidates must have strong MS Word, Excel and other computer application skills. Successful candidates must possess a strong customer service minded skill set, high integrity, ability to work well under pressure, communicate in a clear, tactful and courteous manner and deliver accurate and timely work product.Licensing and Other Requirements:Positions in this classification require the ability to possess and maintain a valid driver's license and ability to meet the City's driving standards.
