Job description: Job Description:About the RoleAs a Staff Mobile Design Systems Engineer at Hinge Health, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining our mobile design systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and cross-functional teams to ensure our design system is scalable, maintainable, and delivers a seamless, high-quality user experience across multiple platforms.In this role, you will leverage your expertise in TypeScript, React, React Native, HTML, and CSS, along with strong leadership skills and system-level thinking, to evolve and enhance Hinge Health’s design system and UI component libraries. Your focus will be on ensuring alignment between design and code, maintaining accessibility, localization, and performance standards, and driving consistency in the look, feel, content, and functionality of our applications.As the leading engineer for the design system, you will define its future direction and work closely with teams across the company to integrate sophisticated, state-of-the-art visual design elements into Hinge Health’s core mobile app, customer-facing web products, and internal tools. Your contributions will be instrumental in creating a cohesive and intuitive user experience that reflects the highest standards of design and engineering excellence.What You’ll AccomplishOwn the maintenance, continued development, and evolution of scalable mobile design systems that support multiple product teams.Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to ensure design consistency and quality across all applications.Develop and enforce design system guidelines, best practices, and standards.Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers on best practices for mobile design systems.Lead code reviews on contributions to design system libraries.Write documentation and component examples to help engineers use and integrate components into products.Solve cross-platform design problems at scale in collaboration with Design partners.Continuously improve the design system based on user feedback and evolving industry standards.Hinge Health Hybrid ModelWe believe that remote work and in-person work have their own advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage the best of both worlds. Employees in hybrid roles are required to be in the office 3 days per week, for the full 8 hours of a typical business day. The San Francisco office has a dog-friendly workplace program.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field6+ years of experience in mobile development with a focus on design systemsProficient in writing client-side Javascript or TypescriptExperience with React, React Native or React Native Web, as well as HTML and CSSExperience contributing to re-usable UI component librariesExperience with API and library design and implementation, with an emphasis on modularityPreferred QualificationsExperience working with Storybook, React Testing Library, Figma and ZeroheightContributions to open-source design systems or relevant publications * Attention to detail, DRY code style, and pattern based execution
- Familiarity with building, publishing, and versioning npm modules
