Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to define firmware requirements, implementing efficient and reliable firmware solutions, conducting thorough testing and debugging, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.The engineer should possess a deep understanding of embedded systems, low-level programming, and hardware-software interactions. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ are essential. The Firmware Engineer plays a vital role in enabling seamless sensor integration and efficient Bluetooth communication in diverse electronic devices.Key Accountabilities
- Translate system requirements into design specification. Develop firmware applications within constraints of small, low-power systems operating in a challenging environment
- Write architectural overviews and detailed software design specifications, including test requirements, task lists and schedules
- Design, develop, document, and test I/O communications and device drivers.
- Manage and build source code repository.
- Develop detailed specifications and tracking and sensor telemetry applications for real-time Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) or Cellular IoT networks.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement improvements in software development methodology and leading practices including unit test strategies
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in related fields.
- MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred with 2+ years of experience.
- Relevant agile qualification
- Relevant project management qualification
- Systems Programming on both bare metal and Operating Systems (RTOS)
- Handling sensors (accelerometers, gyro, GPS, humidity, temperature) and actuators.
- Inter chip communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART
- Experience in Cloud platforms (AWS) and web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, nodel.js, REST APIs, and tools like curl and postman.
- Experience in ARM Cortex-M based microcontrollers.
- Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, confluence etc.) and configuration to work in an agile software environment for development testing and issues management.
- Experience in hardware debug tools such as debuggers (JTAG)/protocol analyzers / Oscilloscopes / Multi-meters/etc. Hands-on in LTE-M1, NB-IoT is a plus
- Creative, motivated, driven. Has an excellent work ethic and passion to succeed
- Excellent communications and cross-functional skills
- Experience of complex embedded Software development using C and Python for scripting.
- Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and handle tight deadlines
- Ability and desire to learn new skills
